Travel Geotac #1: Marima Barrage – Part F

Here’s the other place I mentioned in my last post that you can visit on the Green Roof (GR). It’s called the Solar Park (SP).

Look for the chimney shown above and somewhere behind it you’ll find the SP.

As the name suggest, it’s a section on the GR where you can see rows and rows of soalr panels to capture the energy of the sunlight. Makes sense since Singapore is such a sunny place for most of the year.

There are a total of 405 panels covering an area of about 1200 sqm and it’s the largest in Singapore.

It also helps to save some cost in operating the Marina Barrage (MB) as the solar panels are able to generate up to 70kW which are used to power the indoor lights and power points.

So when you see the indoor lights in the MB, don’t forget the SP on top of the roof powering these lights.

Next post we will visit the indoor places of the MB.

Thanks for coming by. Cheers!

The O rings are awesome. I had no idea they were made from plastic bottle tops.
